The Chairman of Bakassi Local government area, Hon Iyadim Amboni Iyadim, has enjoined youths from the area to avail themselves of the various empowerment programs put in place by Federal and State governments to tackle unemployment
Iyadim made the call while receiving members of Bakassi Future Ambassadors led by its Director General, Mr Leo Okon Asuquo , during a coutesy call in his office, adding that such an opportunity is intended to create jobs and create wealth for the youths
The Chairman pointed out that there are many programs aimed at tackling youth unemployment across the country, stressing that they should acquint themselves of the ongoing Em-power registration which is intended to capture 1000 unemployed youths in every local government across the country.
The Chairman called on them to be involved in the ongoing registration on Livestock Program in the state because of available expanse of land in the area for such business
He also advised them to be actively involved in the development of the area as future leaders, saying they should galvanize ideas which could positively contribute in moving the area ahead
He disclosed the council’s intention to introduce a bursary scheme for students of the area in higher institutions but advised that for the scheme to succeed, they should be prepared to be actively involved in the verification exercise to identify true sons and daughters of the area in order to discourage impersonation
He also informed them of his intention to publish as well as advertise every available program put in place by government, aimeb at tackling unemployment, for their information and hoped they would key into such programs when information is available while promising that his administration, which is youth friendly, will always carry them along.
Earlier, the Director General of Bakassi Future Ambassadors, Mr Leo Okon Asuquo, commended the Chairman on the inclusion of youth in his cabinet and pleaded more chances be created for them as the council expands while saying that they should also be recommended for state and federal appointments whenever there are vacancies
According to Asuquo, ” as agents of mobilization and sensitization, we are prepared to work with your administration to reposition Bakassi to take its rightful place”
He explained that theirs is a platform to enable them put their ideas to bear and he thanked the federal government for initiating the Em-power program across the 774 local government ares in the country to create employment which according to him, will boost the moral of the people especially the youth.
