Yakurr Council Chairman Invests In Accelerated Poultry Farm

In a bid to improve the council internally generated funds, the Yakurr local government chairman, Hon. Ofem Ebri Obeten, has commissioned an accelerated poultry farm in the council area.. 

It is targeted at boosting birds and eggs market by a significant sixty percent (60%) rate as well as  and at an estimated Return On Investment (ROI) of above fifty five percent (55%).

Hon. Ofem, on a visit to the farm proposed site, stressed the need for the local government to run a profit-driven poultry farm. He maintained that the farm was necessitated upon the increasing market demand for chicken and eggs.

The council chairman was also of the view that with a government-run poultry farm, prospective customers and end consumers were guaranteed of healthy birds and good quality eggs. “The Council’s health department will partner the farm which is under the department of agriculture to ensure that the farm submits to best health practices,” Hon. Ofem avouched.

On economy, the Chairman said that the farm is to serve as one of government’s essential point of revenue generation. Howthat, it was the Council’s desire to become a major supplier of birds and eggs all around Yakurr and across to neighboring areas.

The Patriot News  gathered that whereas the Council once ran a poultry farm, however, it was on a small scale and was long abandoned by preceding governments due to the low revenue it generated.

Ofem who spoke passionately about revamping the Council’s agricultural sector told newsmen that in the nearest future, his government would begin cultivating goats, fishes, snails, and among others.
