As the battle for supremacy rages on within the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) in Cross River state, the Electoral Panel for its just concluded primaries for the Cross River Northern Senatorial District bye-election, has submitted Rt.Hon.Jarigbe Agom’s ñame as its candidate.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed October31, 2020 Cross River Northern Senatorial District by-elections
Report made available to newsmen revealed that the Electoral Committee Panel had finished and submitted its report as well as result to the National Secretariat of the party in Abuja for documentation.
According to the report signed by members of the committee, Chief Ibok Esu and Mr Kenneth Zota, was received on September 7, 2020 by the Directorate of Organisation and Mobilisation, “a total of 643 delegates’ as contained in the authentic list of delegates was issued by the National Secretariat of the party, as accreditation were carried out based on the delegates’ list”.
Jarigbe having scored 381 votes as against Dr.Stephen Odey’s 71 votes was declared winner by the Electoral Panel of the People’s Democratic party (PDP).
Others were, Iji Mary Eru (15) votes, Chief Mrs Martina Odom 18 votes while Lukpata Ogana Nicholas scored 12 votes respectfully.
The report stated “at the end of the primary election, Rt.Hon. Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, being the aspirant with the highest number of valid votes cast was declared winner. It must be emphasised at this juncture, that the primary election was conducted using the authentic delegates list issued to the committee by the National Secretariat of the party and sanctioned by the Court”.
The People’s Democratic party primary election was held on Saturday September 5, 2020 in Ogoja local government area of Cross River state.
The primary election was observed by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC),PDP party officials and security personnel amongst others.
