The chairman of Bakassi Local Government Area, Hon Chief Iyadim Amboni Iyadim, has vehemently condemned the kidnap on Thursday  of a former two terms Deputy Speaker of the State House Of Assembly, Hon Barr Dominic Aqua Edem in Ifang Nsung village of the area and has called for his immediate and unconditional release.

Speaking at the palmoil mill premesise in Ifang Nsung village where Hon Edem , who once represented Bakassi twice in the state house of assembly was kidnapped while inspecting activities with his siblings, Iyadim who was visibly angry, described the action of the kidnappers as unexplainable, senseless and wickedness in high places.

According to Iyadim who was received by an elder brother of the victim, Chief Joseph Aqua Edem, ” Hon Edem is one person that has singlehandedly brought development to his immediate community in Bakassi”, adding that the one-time lawmaker who also represented Cross River in the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC as a Commissioner, individually built a health center and a secondary school amongst investments  in his community for his people.

He therefore urged security operatives to walk round the clock to ensure his  immediate release while calling on residents to go about their businesses as efforts have been put in place to ensure safety of lives and property

Briefing  him , an elder brother of the former  lawmaker, Chief Joseph Aqua Edem, said they were inspecting operations at the palmoil mill owned by their late father when some armed men stormed the place and whisked their brother away in a waiting vehicle.

Chief Edem, an ex-serviceman, said he could not identify the kidnappers because he was asked to lie face down when the first set of people invaded the place before those with riffles arrived to  carry out the operation ..
