The immediate past President of DR Congo, Dr Joseph Kabila and that of Mozambique, Joaquin Alberto Chissano have confirmed that they will be present in Calabar next week where they are billed as keynote speakers at the 3rd Leader Olumba O. Olumba.
Amongst other dignitaries who have similarly confirmed readiness to speak at the event is the president of Ramakrishna Math Worldwide, His Grace Swami Sinaranananadaji Maharaja.
Archbishop Iyke Nathan Uzorma, chairman of this year’s Public Lecture series, said he has received official confirmation from the two former African presidents.
He disclosed that they have put in place adequate security and protocol measures for the the top dignitaries coming for the annual festivities of the spiritual leader.
Uzorma disclosed that the former presidents will speak on the theme: Unity In Diversity As Key For Peace and Sustainable Development.
Findings show that three prominent leaders, Mr Donald Duke, former governor of Cross River State, Nigeria’s former ambassador to Uganda Asuquo Nya and Prof Patrick Lumumba, the Kenyan renowned public speaker had previously addressed such public lecture in Calabar in 2019 and 2020.
Kabila has described Obu as a great spiritual leader and one that has devoted his lifetime to the cause of global peace and brotherhood.
He said in recognition of such lofty efforts he would physically be in Calabar capital to lend his voice to the imperative needs for peace, forgiveness and unity, especially amongst African countries.
