Former Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba(SAN) has given kudos to the current leadership of the Cross River State Nigeria Union of Journalists.
As a result of the healthy development, he said, “i will return the suspended one day annual feast with the NUJ.”
Ndoma-Egba was speaking when he met with the Central Planning Committee of the 2022 NUJ Media Week Committee who met him to present his Most Outstanding NUJ Patron Award to him in his Calabar home, advising that journalists should shun partisian politics.
Ndoma-Egba has been the patron of NUJ for over thirty years and in the years past created a day for journalists to meet and feast with him as part of the annual Christmas Celebrations, but suspended it from 2015, due to what he described as partisianship of NUJ leadership.
He commended Nsa Gill Led executive for re-inventing and repositioning the NUJ which he is proud to identify with thus far.
“Nsa Gill is reinventing, repositioning and redeeming the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Cross River and I wish to Congratulate him and his executive for a job well done.
“All I will advise you is that ,don’t run an NUJ that will be partisian and biase no matter the situation, tell the truth at all times and don’t allow sentiments to drive your leadership.
“Giving what i have seen thus far because i have been following your leadership activities, I can assure you that i will come back to NUJ and continue to play a major role like before as your Patron.
” I want to also inform you that I will start to play that suspended old role of feasting with you during the Christmas period an event that gives NUJ members opportunity to spend a whole day with me in my house in Calabar, starting this year” he assured.
The Former Chairman of Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC advise journalists to Manage the challenges of the social media to reduce fake news in Cross River State.
