Senator Sandy Ojang Onor, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in Cross River State has said that he will renovate the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Centre, with the state of the arts facilities.
He made this promise while fielding questions from newsmen during a press conference.
Onor declared “quote me if I win the election, in three months time I will renovate your press centre with the state of the arts facilities”.
He went on to vow that he does not make promises that he would not keep to.
Onor had earlier briefed the media on the successful electioneering campaigns which began from the Northern Senatorial District and ended in the South across the 18 local government areas of the state.
This conference is to thank them in advance for the trust they have on us, ahead of the gubernatorial election which will hold in March.
According to him, “this phase of the campaign tour which ended on January 25th, 2023 was very revealing for the first time, our fathers came out bold and courageous to cry out about their plight”.
“From Obudu, the home of Prof. Ben Ayade, the governor, to Bakassi, we all felt like weeping, as the traditional rulers and the masses spoke about the decay in our state, he said”.
Furthermore, “the experience has confirmed our worst fears about the gravity of neglect that our people have suffered in the hands of the APC government.”.
“We saw very terrible roads especially in the North, where Ayade comes from.”
He stated “believe me, very soon we are getting to the end of these sufferings and neglect. When we get into office on May 29, we will by the grace of the Almighty, change the narrative for good “.
Onor accused Ayade of importing thugs during the bye-election last year. We already know that he intends to repeat this deadly strategy. Unfortunately for him, the plot is dead on arrival as our people have been sufficiently conscientised you to stand up for their rights, and to vote and ensure that their votes count”.
He condenmed the current recruitment exercise in the state civil service, describing it as wrongly times. The motive is completely mischievous and wicked to say the least.
Onor also cried out over the alleged rumour that the state governor had ordered companies operating in the state to pay up front tax of five years. This will not be in the interest of the state. The plan is anti people and against the common good of all Cross Riverians.
He condenmed the recent controversy surrounding BIVAS machines in the state. IPAC had maintained that it was not carried along when INEC and the security forces in the state moved in to confirm that the no BIVAS machines were tempered with.
Therefore, he said, we call on INEC and the security agencies to allow IPAC certify the authenticity of their pronouncement on the BIVAS.
However, he lauded the media iin the state for all the support it had extended to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and all the candidates running for elections.
