The gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) Sen. Prince Bassey Otu has reassured Cross Riverians that his administration will pay priority attention on the issue of pension and gratuity according to the availability of funds.
The present administration under the leadership of Sen. Ben Ayade he said had tried in the payment of monthly pensions.
According to him, “I quiet appreciate the suffering and pains retirees are passing through. We trying in the aspect of monthly pensions than so many other states in the country.”
Otu gave this explanation while answering questions during a press conference where he officially launched his agenda tagged “People -First” before the media.
“Greatness awaits us as we unfold our agenda for a better Cross River State where everyone will live in peace and harmony with man and nature, pursing legitimate businesses moderated by good governance “
.
Furthermore, he said, “in order to achieve this, I seek to be the next governor of Cross River State, and I invite you to join Rt. Hon. Peter Odey and I on this mission “.
“We need to change the narrative that our state is a purely civil service system by repositioning our people to take advantage of our peculiarities in carving a niche for ourselves in a competitive world driven by modern technologies and practices, he noted “.
He promised to scale up the Agro-revolutuon of previous administrations, see that all previously built work maximally for the benefit of our people, expand access to free and compulsory qualitative education in the Cross River ,to build and run World-Class medical facilities that will pull medical tourists from across Africa, seek to ensure a sustainable economic and efficient management of our mineral resources and shall put in place modern road and street infrastructure.
.”We shall preserve our physical environment through conservation and promotion of environmentally friendly practices in Development and our lifestyle, we shall concentrate and coordinate the bookkeeping and registration of public revenue and expenditure, and our government shall remain committed to completing all of the projects inherited and or initiated by past administrations “.
He noted “that the governorship of Cross River State is not a child’s play. It is a call to sincere service and I do not take it lightly. Therefore, he said “I shall give my best with utmost integrity, humility and sincerity
Earlier, the former Senate Leader, Distinguished Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba while answering questions gave further explanation on the issue of “Ejagham people”.
Said he, “for those pushing the so called Ejagham agenda in the 2023 elections in Cross River State, I want to remind them that I, along with so many other illustrious sons and daughters across the three senatorial districts of Cross River State, are proudly and prominent Ejaghams”
“I do not recall when and where we met to demand that it is the turn of Ejagham to produce Governor now. In any case, if indeed there is such an agitation, it is the turn of Ejaghams of Cross River South. And to the best of my knowledge, Sen. Bassey Otu is heavily affiliated with the Ejaghams and he is from Cross River South and he has always displayed liberalism in his dealings with everyone, right from his days in the National Assembly.”
“So those emergency Ejagham agitators are just showing themselves to be smart by half, selfish, divisive and narrow-minded ethnic chauvinists. That is the long and short of the matter.”
