C’River: Otu Declared Winner Of Guber Race

Senator Bassey Otu, has been declared winner of the just concluded gubernatorial election in Cross River State.
He contested under the candidature of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC).
Otu, defeated his rival, Senator Sandy Onor of the Peoples’Democratic Party (PDP) to emerge winner of the contest.

Announcing the results, the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) in Calabar showed that the APC candidate won in 15 out of the 18 local government council areas while the PDP’s won in three.

Senator Otu won in Obubra, Obudu, Bakassi, Abi, Yala, Biase, Calabar South, Etung, Odukpani, Calabar Municipality, Akpabuyo, Yakurr, Akamkpa, Boki and Obanliku.

His opponent from the PDP  Senator Onor, took Ogoja, Ikom and Bekwarra.

The Returning Officer of the governorship election in the state, Prof Teedy Charles of the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, announced Senator Otu as winner having polled 258, 619 to defeat Senator Onor who scored 179,636 votes.
