In line with it’s set targets towards the actualization of the mandate of poverty alleviation,employment generation and wealth creation,the National Directorate of employment (NDE) has flag off training of 20 unemployed youths in vocational and digital skills in their NDE skills acquisition centre in Etung LGA of Cross River State.
Speaking at the Flags-off /orientation ceremony Director General, of NDE,Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo in his keynote address,said the B-NOAS scheme being implemented by the agency has a potential to increase youth contribution to national economic growth.
The Director General who was represented by the state Coordinator Mr Udam Gabriel Ugbashi
called on youths to key into president Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Which focuses on job creation and poverty reduction among other specified national development objectives.
According to Fikpo, the era of waiting for white collar jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in over,hence the need for youths to take their destinies in their own hands,by embracing opportunities offered by the federal government through the NDE to earn a living in a a challenging economy.
The Head of Vocational skills development department VSD NDE Headquarters, Abuja Mrs Amina Lawa Shettima who was represented by Mrs Agnes Ogbaga in her Goodwill message, charged the beneficiaries to take the training serious, reminding them of the fact that there are many persons out there looking for this great opportunity.
Mrs Florence Augustine Ogar, HOD,VSD in the state office,equally charge the beneficiaries to be of good conduct at their respective choose skills.
As the Directorate has zero tolerance for absenteeism and laziness. Florence stated that the inspector at department carries out reqular monitoring and evaluation to assess beneficiaries in the programme.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries of B-NOAS, Miss Lovina Daniel, expressed gratitude to the management of NDE, and promise their will take the training serious in order to justify the huge investment of the Federal Government in the exercise.
