As part of steps to end the lingering crisis within the Cross River State People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the National Working Committee (NWC) has directed the state executive council to as soon as possible submit its harmonised delegates’ ‘list so as to resolve the matter once and for all.
It could be recalled that due to agitation from two factions, the ward/state congresses of the party have not been held. There has been several postponements following disagreement on the delegates lists.
Worried by this ugly situation, the NWC led by Prince Uche Secondus, had directed that the Exco in the state should as a matter of priority harmonise the list and forward same to the headquarters in Abuja for it to finalise arrangement for the congresses to hold in September 2020.
The NWC, however told party members in the state it’s decision is in line with existing party policy guidelines “as state governors remain the party leaders in their respective states”.
Confirming this development was the states PDP party chairman, Ntufam Edim Inok in an interview with the Patriot News Online in Calabar.
According to him, “we have set in option steps to meet as a family to iron out things so that we will always speak with one voice”.
“We had held several stakeholders meeting with the view of resolving all pending matters. We need not to discuss further because of the court involvement, he added”.
Inok appealed to party faithful to be calm as all matters shall be sorted out amicably and the delegates list submitted to the PDP National working Committee.
“We shall soon return as PDP one family as it were. We give God the glory, Inok noted”.
