The Chairman of Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State, Hon Iyadim Amboni, has urged staff of the council to adhere strictly to work ethics as a way of appreciating the massive renovation work currently going on at the council headquarters.
He made the charge when he received in audience, executive members of Nigeria Union Of Local Government Employees (NULGE) of the council led by its chairman, Comrade Thomas Effiom Edet in his office.
Iyadim, who said things are turning around for good in the council and for the staff, disclosed that it is his determination to create a conducive work environment for staff to enjoy
He therefore called on them to be prepared make sacrifices to enable the council move forward as efforts are at hand to install modern communication gadgets in offices to boost productivity
The Chairman assured that by the time the gadgets are fully operational they will be compelled to come to work regularly and on time , adding that modalities are being put in place to build a befitting staff canteen
Also speaking, the Vice Chairman of Bakassi Local Government Area,Etieka Mrs Lawrencia Ita, noted that council staff will encourage them to do better if they put in their best as their contributions to ensure success
Ita enjoined them to reciprocate the efforts of the Chairman by putting in their best to ensure the council attains its pride of place amongst others while assuring that there is a reward for hard work
Earlier, the Chairman NULGE, Bakassi Local Government Council chapter, Comrade Thomas Effiom Edet, in his address, commended the Chairman of Bakassi Local Government Area, Hon Iyadim Amboni Iyadim, for the spate of on going renovation work in the council to give it a facelift.
Edet pledged staff cooperation to ensure Iyadim succeeds during his tenure as they are prepared to put in their best .
He, however, listed staff request to include reinforcement of security, inadequate office accommodation, provision of a staff canteen, provision of staff bus, and being carried along by the council in various activities.
Others include payment of back log of salaries, and the placement status of staff following the ceding of Bakassi to Cameron.
