Gov Otu Calls for Continued Prayer Support, Highlights Progress in Cross River

The Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prince Bassey Otu, has called on Cross Riverians to continue offering prayers for his administration, attributing the state’s steady progress to their unwavering prayer support.

 Speaking at the fourth edition of the Cross River State Solemn Assembly held at the Calabar International Conference Centre on July 20, 2024, the Governor emphasized that the state has significantly advanced compared to its condition a year ago when his administration took office.

Representing the Governor at the event, Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, PhD, highlighted the significant achievements of the Otu-led administration. He noted the massive improvements in road infrastructure within Calabar and other parts of the state. He specifically mentioned the construction of roads connecting previously isolated communities in Yache and Ukele in Yala Local Government Area, underscoring the administration’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and development.

Deputy Governor Odey also touched on the issue of the oil wells that Cross River State had lost due to wrongful boundary delineation. He assured attendees that efforts to rectify this anomaly had reached advanced stages for Cross River to become an oil producing state again, indicating the administration’s dedication to reclaiming the state’s rightful resources and ensuring equitable distribution of wealth.

Dr. Odey expressed gratitude to Cross Riverians for their continuous prayers and support. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to driving development and progress, urging everyone to remain united and hopeful for a brighter future for Cross River State.

The Solemn Assembly, themed ‘Greater Glory,’ was marked by prayers for the state, gospel messages, and music ministrations. The event drew a large attendance from amongst the clergy, traditional rulers, and ordinary citizens, reflecting the strong support the current administration is enjoying from Cross Riverians. 

Dignitaries that attended the event included the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly and members of the House, the State Chief Judge, Members of the National Assembly, the Secretary to State Government amongst others.
