The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Obubra Chapter has expressed confidence on the Chairman of Obubra Local Government Council, Hon Kingsley Arikpo, aka APOLLO, for showcasing capacity to usher in, a new era of inclusive governance, grassroot development and empowerment of the youths.
This was made Known when the leadership of the forum paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman in his office recently at the Council Secretariat.
The delegation, led by Comr. Fred Sylvester Okare, Chairman of NYCN-Obubra Chapter, congratulated Hon. Kingsley Ibon Arikpo for his emergence as the Executive Chairman of Obubra council.
Comr. Okare, who spoke on behalf of the entire youth body, intimated that, the visit also served as a platform for familiarization of the newly inaugurated Executive of the youths body, with the executive Chairman of Obubra.
The group noted that the visit which would strengthen collaborative governance also marks the beginning of a renewed relationship between the youth council and the local government authority, based on mutual respect, collaboration, and shared vision for youth empowerment.
The youths however appealed to the Chairman , Hon Arikpo to allocate an Office Space for the forum.
The NYCN also requested the approval of a regular subvention from the local government to support youth-related programs, training, and community development initiatives.
Okare highlighted how consistent financial support would enable the council to deliver on its mandate and reach a wider base of young people across the LGA.
Responding, Hon. Kingsley Ibon Arikpo expressed appreciation for the visit and congratulated members of the new NYCN executive on their inauguration.
Arikpo reaffirmed his commitment to youth development and assured the delegation that their requests would receive prompt attention.”I believe in the power and potential of young people to drive real change,” the Chairman stated”.
He maintained that his administration will continue to create opportunities for youth participation and development, assuring that their requests are valid, as he will work with his team to address them accordingly.
