Cross River State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Comrade Asu Okang, has urged Christians and other Nigerians to imbibe the lessons of Easter in this trying times of the ravaging COVID 19 for the peace,unity and progress of the nation and the World at large.
Okang stated this in a goodwill message on behalf of the government and good people of Cross River State to commemorate the 2020 Easter celebrations which marks the end of forty days of fasting and abstinence by all christians across the globe culminating in the ressurection of Jesus Christ-the saviour of the world
“This year,we are celebrating Easter amidst the increasing challenges that came with the outbreak of Corona Virus in the last two months.”,he declared,adding that the current sit at home order therefore provides a veritable platform for Nigerians and christians in particular, to reflect on the trials,temptations,sufferings,death and resurrection of our Lord,Jesus Christ, taking into cognizance the significance of these sacrifices for the redemption of mankind.
The Information&Orientation Commissioner tasked christians to note that the avoidable sufferings by Jesus christ was deliberately made for the remission of the sins of man,emphasizing that people can only reciprocate this gesture from God,by imbibing the spirit of forgiveness,almsgiving and promoting peaceful co-existence among adherrents of the different religions across the world.
Comrade Okang lauded Cross Riverians and residents of the State for their patiennce and understanding during this period of restrictiion of movement as a result of the preventive measures put in place by government to wade off the COVID 19 pandemic from the State.
“As you celebrate,let me remind all Cross Riverians to display the high level of civility which our State is known for while also urging you to maintain decorum,clean and serene environment devoid of acrimony that is capable of truncating the prevailing peace in our State”,Comrade Okang posited
He also admonished the people of the State to observe and obey all the preventive measures of COVID 19 while celebrating Easter in the comfort of their homes in line with the stay at home order .
