Cross River state governor, Senator Ben Ayade, has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for initiating the women empowerment program aimed at lifting women from poverty and improving their living standard.
Ayade stated this in Calabar at the flag off of the Federal Government cash grant to women across the 18 local government areas of the state anchored by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development in collaboration with the Cross River State Ministry of Humanitarian and Social Welfare.
The governor who was represented at the occasion by the Secretary to the State Government Barr. Tina Banku Agbor, said the program was in tandem with the humanitarian posture of governor Ben Ayade whose policy thrust is to elevate the social status of women, children and the less privilege in the society.
“Governor Ben Ayade is a kind hearted person who will even shed tears at the sight of meeting persons in distressed situations, she said”.
She described the event as timely as it will accord the beneficiaries the opportunity to invest in their petty businesses.
Agbor averred that the future of the nation lies in the hands of the women and urged them to team together in order get hold of commanding heights in the nations politics.
Each of the beneficiaries were given #20,000 each for petty trading or skill acquisition training.
