The Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employments, Mr Patrick Egbede has said that the state government is vehement on strategizing on plausible ways to rejuvenate and sustain the spirit of craftsmanship among talented youths in the state.
He dropped the hint while speaking with newsmen in his office recently.
According to him, “my Ministry will not only broaden its scope in enhancing the Arts of Craftsmanship but ensure complete sustainability”.
He noted that “every avenue would be exploited to guarantee the creation of wealth pointing out that new technologies would be sort for to harmonize with the traditional methods to increase effectiveness in production”.
Egbede said that there were very many areas of craft that have been neglected over the years and needed to be revisited.
He emphasized that the latent energy and talent domisal among Cross Riverians must be reawaken to withstand the strong desire for economic growth.
The Commissioner pointed out that simple art and crafts such as broom making, basket and mat weaving could be an avenue for wealth generation.
Egbede said his office will liaise with relevant authorities to facilitate advocacy for the venture.
