Paradise Int’l Academy showcases talents at maiden Inter house sports meet

The game of sports has been described as “an exercise that helps to strengthen an individual and keeps them mentally stable”.

This was the view of the Chairman of the occasion and Commandant,  Cross River state Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Charles Brown  at the maiden edition of the inter house sports  fiesta of Paradise International Academy held at the Main bowl of the U. J. Esuene Stadium Calabar.

Commandant Brown emphasized the need for the children to effectively engage and participate in different fields of sports of their choices that will make them gain prominence in the nearest future. 

He also disclosed that sporting events in schools will help guarantee a solid educational foundation aimed at identifying talents in children early enough at the grassroot level. 

The principal of Paradise International Academy, Mrs Margaret Ituen, charged the competitors to exhibit the spirit of sportsmanship, fair play and discipline adding that the game of sports is a mental and psychomotive exercise that stimulates individuals.

Ituen lauded the Proprietress of the academy, Mrs Henrietta Charles Brown for seeing to the success of the inter house sports competition.

She also called on the State Sports Commission to use the opportunity to fish out hidden talents from the sports meet.

Earlier,the games Master of the academy, Mr. Bernard Asuquo expressed satisfaction with the performances of all the competitors for their various houses.

Asuquo called on the head of the different houses to showcase  their different events into practice so that they could become World Champions in the nearest future.

Meanwhile, the best performing competitor in the male category went to Emmanuel Okon Effiom of Paradise Jasper house while the best performing female competitor went to Sonia Ehimatie of Paradise Citrine house. 

At the end of the inter house sports meet – Paradise Amber House emerged victorious with the total of 80 points, closely followed by Paradise Sapphire House with 73 points, Paradise Citrine House took the third position with 60 points while Paradise Jasper House came last with 53 points. 

Events competed for included, 100 m, 200 m, filling the loop, three-legged race, sack race, back to school, catching the train and 4 x 100 m school relay races.
