Having served as the Coordinator of Remedial Science for over five years, as well as the Coordinator of the Departmental Graduate Programme, he has demonstrated strong leadership capabilities.
Additionally, his roles as Chairman of the Faculty Graduate Programme, Sub Dean, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences, and Dean of Student Affairs highlight his extensive involvement in academic administration.
Unquestionably, Professor Offiong has a proven track record in educational reform.
He served as the Cross River Commissioner for Education for eight years during which he initiated significant reforms that positively impacted the sector. Furthermore, his tenure as Chairman of the Commissioner of Education Forum for seven years and as a Member of the Presidential Task Force on Education under the Jonathan administration showcases his commitment to elevating educational standards in Nigeria.
Given the persistent strikes by ASUU and other unions, Professor Offiong stands out as an exceptional candidate. His role as an astute unionist for over two decades demonstrates his understanding of industrial relations and the importance of fostering harmony within the academic community.
