The Executive Chairman, Biase Local Government Area of Cross River, Hon. Edodi Eyong Edodi has demonstrated visionary and people-centered leadership, fostering peace, inclusive governance, and sustainable rural development.
A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Charles Ukam Unoh, indicates that Edodi’s administration has achieved remarkable progress across multiple sectors.
According to the statement, the Chairman brokered a landmark Peace a ccord, uniting ten Erei communities and also mediated reconciliation between Biakpian and Etono II communities.
It further states that the Chairman under one year of his stewardship restored peace in Akpet No.1, resolving disputes among traditional rulers, youth, and women and further settling leadership conflicts in Igbofia Traditional Council (Ehom Ward) and Akpet Central.
Above all, Hon Edodi had in the period under review promoted inter-state harmony by mediating the Abia–Cross River boundary dispute.
As a brilliant administrator, the Chairman on assumption of office constituted the Biase Executive Council and Transition Committee for effective policy coordination.This he did by appointing key officials to strengthen administrative efficiency.
The statement further shows that Edodi who established the Anti-Illegal Activities Taskforce to combat unlawful practices to strengthen internal security also .formed the Biase Cultural Committee to preserve and promote the people’s cultural heritage.
In the area of Community Development and Infrastructure, the statement indicates that in rural water supply, the Chairman installed and rehabilitated solar-powered boreholes in Abanwan, Afono, Ibini, Ipene, Umuolor, and two at the council secretariat, Akpet Centrala among other infrastructural Projectsincluding a mini-bridge at Egbor Community and drain system in Abanwan.
Other projects are; the 280 market shops compartment at the ongoing Ultra-modern Market in Abini, designed with a park and solar powered Borehole.
Beside other Market developments in Akparavuni, Ibogo, and Big Iwuru The statement further enumerated renovations of Abanwan 5 Block Market with 50 shades as the Council also initiated grading of the Abini–Agwagwune bypass, to enhance connectivity and commerce.
The statement added that Hon Edodi Eyong has also made giant strides in education, Healthcare, Security as furter enumerated in the following policies and programmes such asOrganizing World AIDS Day medical outreach, providing free healthcare services and awareness,
Strengthened child protection.Education; Edodi awarded scholarship to 120 indigenous students: ₦200,000 for undergraduates and ₦250,000 for postgraduates.
He renovated a four-classroom block at Betem Primary School, built a four-classroom block in Adim Community, In his contribution to Youth and women empowerment, the Chairman also appointed Youth leaders to drive grassroots innovation and development, women’s participation in governance..
In just one year, Hon. Edodi Eyong Edodi has set a new benchmark for transformational leadership in Biase Local government area.
