The Nigeria Union of Journalists Cross River state council has commended the ongoing urban renewal and beautification leading to the upgrading and resurfacing of some major roads in the Calabar metropolis, especially Carnival route, to give Citizens the reason to celebrate the Yuletide.
The commendation was contained in a communique issued in her last Congress for the month of December 2025 presided by the Vice Chairman of Council, Comrade Sunny Inah,
“Congress while commending the synergy among security agencies in the state, called on them to sustain their collaboration and to step up their surveillance and other operations within and outside the state capital to nip in the bud miscreant attacks and activities, especially this festive period”
.
It also appealed to the Cross River State government to ensure speedy implementation of the banning of the operations of property agents whose extortionists activities have led to the violation of tenants’ rights.
Also, “in line with the Union Constitution for a bye Election to fill a vacant position in the Council leadership, Congress approved the nomination of Chief Ashie Osor of the Nigerian Chronicles Newspaper as the Financial Secretary”.
Congress also appealed to Port -Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) to allow uninterrupted power supply during the Yuletide.
The Vice Chairman, Comrade Sunny Inah had used the opportunity to wish members “a happy christmas celebration and happy new year in advance.
