Dep Gov Assures Legion Of Govt Support

The Deputy Governor of Cross Driver State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey has reiterated that the present administration’s ‘People First’ Mantra carries everybody along.

The Deputy Governor stated this when the State Chairman and some executives of the Nigerian Legion paid him a courtesy visit in Tuesday , 27th February, 2024.

Rt. Hon. Peter Odey assured the group that their challenges had been noted and same will be channelled to the Governor for action. He said he was sure that 70% of their requests will be looked into immediately.

Speaking earlier, the State Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Comrade Daniel Ojugbo commended the state government in all its activities to mark the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration in the state.


Comrade Ojugbo said the Nigetian Legion was established in 1988 to cater for the welfare of ex-service men and to ensure that veterans continue to share the comradeship that existed while in service.

Comrade Ojugbo enumerated some of their challenges to include non-fulfillment of a promise made by the last administration to donate a brand new bus to the legion during the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, and non-completion of of the renovation work in the state legion Secretariat.

He used the opportunity to plead with the present administration provide land for an office for the Nigerian Legion and to prevail on the transport regulatory agencies to grant waivers to the Legion Mass Transit Scheme as had become customary.

The event was attended by the Commissioner for Social Welfare and Community Development, Bishop Margaret Minika Eneita and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr. Augustine Sunday.
