In line with it’s statutory mandate to ginger the state economy, the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment has deployed a strategic stance by inaugurating desk officer in all Local Government Areas of the state.
Performing the exercise in Biase, Akamkpa and Odukpani , The Commissioner, Hon Patrick Egbede said that the Desk officers have the mandate to adhere to the template provided to capture all category of vulnerable persons within their jurisdiction.
He listed the categories to include the unemployed, widows and widowers, physically challenged, farmers of all sorts, retirees, youths, artisans,aged,traders and cooperatives.

Egbede urged the desk officers to be highly committed to duties, dexterous, sensitive and proactive. According to him, the state government would heavily rely on data generated by them and as such should be meticulous and be accurate in the collection adding that no qualified persons should be denied the opportunity.
He explained that the categorisation of the registration is to enable government address such persons in terms of grant, loans, empowerment and other incentives.
Egbede emphasized that the new strategy is a paradigm shift from the hitherto cumbersome and unreliable data which in most cases denied the true beneficiaries of government largess.
The Commissioner advices the local government council administrators to cooperate and encourage the desk officers to perform their new roles maximally.
The HOLGAs of Biase, Akamkpa and Odukpani were impressed with the innovation and promised to adequately support the venture.
The Biase HOLGA, Juliana Adaliku conducted the Commissioner to the designated desk office and assured of adequate support to the officer in charge.
