Set to Host Women Stakeholders’ Mobilisation and Empowerment Programme as Princess Gloria Akobundu Highlights NELFUND, Infrastructure Revolution, Cash Transfers, Women and Youth Empowerment

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, is set to host a major national gathering of women stakeholders in Abuja on Monday, October 5, as part of preparations for the 2027 presidential campaign and efforts to strengthen women’s participation in the political process.

The Women Stakeholders’ Mobilisation and Empowerment Pre-Inaugural Campaign Roll-Out 2027, being organised under the Women Mobilisation Directorate of the 2027 APC Presidential Campaign Council, is expected to bring together more than 20,000 women stakeholders from across the country is scheduled for 8:00 a.m. at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BATICC), Abuja).

The event is themed “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity”, with the campaign mobilisation message: “One Voice, One Movement, One Choice, One Mandate 2027.”

The gathering is expected to bring together women leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, grassroots organisers, political stakeholders, community representatives and other women groups from across the country for discussions on empowerment, political participation and the policies and programmes of the Tinubu administration.

Speaking ahead of the summit, Hon. Princess Gloria Akobundu, PhD, a member of the Apc Presidential Campaign Council Women Mobilisation planning Committee, highlighted a number of Federal Government programmes which she has transformed lives of millions of Nigerian women and youths that President Tinubu’s re-election will ensure its consolidation.

Akobundu pointed to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), infrastructure development, social-protection interventions, access to consumer credit, digital-skills development, youth empowerment and other programmes of the Tinubu administration.

Princess Akobundu stated that NELFUND was designed to provide interest-free loans to eligible Nigerian students, with the official fund currently reporting more than 1.4 million registered students and more than 1.69 million loan applications on its platform, more than ₦191 billion in loans disbursed, and over 320 institutional partners.

She also highlighted CREDICORP, the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation, which currently lists credit products covering personal loans, education, home improvement, renewable energy and other forms of consumer financing through participating financial institutions with a mandate to expand access to consumer credit and ultimately reach 50 percent of Nigeria’s working families.

She emphasised that President Tinubu has constructed over 2,700 kilometres of highways and major roads are under construction, reconstruction or rehabilitation, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Super Highway and Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road with ongoing rail modernisation, energy and housing investments among other infrastructure priorities.

Princess Akobundu further highlighted that President Tinubu’s government launched the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer Programme as an intervention following the removal of the petrol subsidy and other economic shocks. 

She said that the Federal Government expanded cash-transfer interventions has reached 75 million vulnerable households, while new programmes under NG-CARES, SOLID and HOPE were introduced to expand support for vulnerable Nigerians, communities and human-capital development.

Princess Gloria Akonundu called on Imo women and all south east women to strengthen their monilisation and take the renewed Hope message to all the communities and localities across the South East.
