Traders operating within Bakassi Local Government Area in Cross River State, have been ordered to remove their wares which line major roads within the area to avoid obstruction, congestion and confusion
According to Chairman of Council, Hon Chief Iyadim Amboni Iyadim, while addressing traders in Ikang, “crates of beer parked by the roadside do not allow free flow of vehicular and human traffic and they will be impounded if not removed immediately”.
Accompanied of military and paramilitary heads domiciled in the area, Iyadim, who was visibly angry, disclosed that one of the reasons the erstwhile motor was relocated to a new place was to clear the area of nuisance caused by uncontrolled parking of cars along the road leading to Ikang beach
He therefore advised those involved to look for alternative places to park their crates to avoid being embarrassed by security and Council staff
” Apart from creating congestion, such traders also cause confusion and are therefore advised they look for convenient ares to park their wares than line them along the road”, he stressed
He further explained that security operatives in the area have been directed to clear the road of such obstacles and their owners prosecuted
