Veteran Youth Activist Josephine Equali Vie For NYCN State Chairmanship

A seasoned and tested female veteran youth activist, Hon. (Mrs) Josephine Equali Eni, has shown interest to contest for the position chairman in the national youth council of Nigeria in Cross River state.

She had earlier served as Youth Leader in Sen. Liyel Imoke’s transition committee in 2007 and later elected as an honourable member representing Central Senatorial District in the National Youth Parliament of Nigeria in 2008, appointed member, Youth Council Caretaker Committee in 2009 and currently serving as Special Adviser on Community Development to Gov. Benedict Ayade.

She had  thrown her support for Abi and Yakurr as rational LGAs to file candidates for the position of State Chairman in the forthcoming National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) elections.

Hon. Josephine, in an interview with The Patriot News correspondent  said that “the best time for Abi or Yakurr LGA to serve NYCN as State Chairman is now”.

She commended the current NYCN leadership for zoning its State Chairmanship slot to Central Senatorial District.

Hon. Josephine established that from the very beginning, zoning has always helped in solving salient problems for NYCN in the State. Howbeit , but not for zoning, it would have been difficult for certain comrades to have been given the mantle of leadership.

Shealso stated that for Abi and Yakurr LGAs to not feel cheated on the scheme of things, they should be supported to produce a state chairman owing to the records on ground that Mr. Livinus Omono, a one time State Chairman is from Obubra, and Abi/Yakurr are the two LGAs in Old Obubra that have never had a turn in piloting the affairs of NYCN in the state.

According to her “from statistics, NYCN’s state chairmanship struggle was supposed to be between Yakurr and Abi, while appealing to stakeholders on the need to consider the two said LGAs, especially bringing to mind their agitation since the year 2000 to produce a state chairman, which she noted was “long overdue”
