The Chairman and Executives of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Calabar South Chapter, have declared their total support and solidarity to Prof. Offiong Effanga Offiong as he contests for the vice chancellorship seat of the University of Calabar (Unical).
This was contained in a statement issued and signed by the chapters’ Public Relations Officer, Comrade Bassey Okokon in Calabar.
The statement described him “as an erudite scholar, a renowned academic and a Distinguished Resource Person in the academia who rose through the ranks to become the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Cross River State, where he served Cross River state meritoriously without blemish for eight years under governor Liyel Imoke.
It said “with his rich exposure and wealth of experience, the Council in Calabar South has no doubt that he is strategically positioned to put to use his administrative acumen to give the Institution a huge leap unto enviable pedestal”.
“We therefore, join other well meaning citizens to call on both Federal and state governments, individuals in the public and private sectors as well as major stakeholders in the academia to propagate this worthy cause of giving this quintessential and detribalized Nigerian a chance to pilot the affairs of University of Calabar in the best interest of all and sundry, “it added.
“We are solidly behind Prof. Offiong Effanga Offiong, for Vice Chancellor, University of Calabar. He is the best bet for the job “.
