The Chairman of Bakassi local government area of Cross River State, Hon Iyadim Amboni Iyadim, said the handing over of the Skills Acquisition Center built by The Presidency under Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA) was at the appropriate time as it will be used for the improvement of the people
Speaking while receiving the keys to the centre from the Director General, State Border Communities Development Agency ,Mr Noel Ugbong, Iyadim noted that the take over of the centre was in tandem with the council’s determination to train and create jobs for the youths of the area
While thanking the federal and state governments for the facility, the Chairman promised to install equipment to create opportunities where youths will be meaningfully engaged as a way of tackling unemployment and restiveness in the area
He assured that the facility will be included in the council’s programs of creating enabling environment for small and medium scales enterprises to operate, adding that the council will also undertake the completion of uncompleted accessories connected to the facility to make it functional
Earlier, the Director General of the State Border Communities Development Agency, Mr Noel Ugbong, disclosed that the skill aquisition center which was built by The Presidency was handed over to the state Governor, Sir Prof Ben Ayade to deliver to Bakassi Local Government Council, adding that the center is expected to train youths of the area in various trades and vocations in order to improve their means of livelihood
Ugbong hoped the Iyadim, who within a short time in office has created much impact, will add value to the center and improve the well-being of the people
