The Bakassi Local Government Council has paid a courtesy call on the Chairman of Davandy Group of Companies, High Chief Asuquo Ekpenyong over the destruction of Ekondo Microfinance Bank by hoodlums under the guise of ENDSARS Protest
The Council , led by the Chairman of Bakassi Local Government Area Hon Chief Iyadim Amboni Iyadim sympathised with Chief Ekpenyong whom it described as a pillar of economic development in Bakassi LGA
Hon Iyadim disclosed that Chief Ekpenyong stood behind members of the present executive and Legislature of the council during their quest to attain their respective political office , adding that the vandalization of the bank was done by hoodlums under the guise of ENDSARS Protest in the area despite its assistance to them in various ways of commerce and business
He therefore appealed that the bank should not be relocted from its current address in Ikang because of its relevance to the people, stressing that the economic status which Bakassi has achieved as an international border town is derived from the bank due to its support
Responding, the Chairman of Davandy Group of Companies, High Chief Asuquo Ekpenyong, said Bakassi is a small town but very important to the state because of its strategic location
He noted that despite the level of havoc on Ekondo Microfinance Bank by the hoodlums under the guise EndSARS Protest, things will return to normalcy in the next three months, adding that the leadership of Bakassi should not feel fraustrated or demoralized because of what happened
He noted that Bakassi which is known internationally should not be allowed to be relegated to the background , stressing that, ” Iyadim, you as chairman ,there is no way you will not step on toes in the course of performing your duties creditably”
Advising the executive members of the council that accompanied the Chairman, Chief Ekpenyong admonished that the future will be better than the past and as such they should work as a team to achieve laudable results
Those who accompanied the Chairman included the Vice Chairman Hon Etieka Mrs Lawrencia Ita, Secretary of Council, Hon Eyo Bassey Edet, Supervisors, Head of Local Government Administration HOLGA, Elder Paul Agboche and heads of Department.
