Insecurity: Traditional Chiefs To Invoke Gods Of The Land For Cleansing

Arrangements have been concluded by the Cross River State Council ofTraditional rulers to use every available means known to the institution to cleanse the land from the incessant insecurity in the state.

Therefore in the bid to checkmate the incessant insecurity, it has commenced the invocation of native sanctions with effect from Tuesday 1st, December 2020. 


The exercise, is intended to serve as adherent against the perpetrators of kidnapping., armed robbery, cultism and other vices which have been disturbing the peaceful residency in the state.


The traditional rites to be performed by the Monarchs and Chief priests of the institution  is expected to start from Calabar with subsequent coverage of the entire local government areas in the state.

According to the Chairman of the State Traditional Rulers Council,  His Royal Majesty, Etinyin Etim Okon Edet, the option is as a result of the continuous violation of public peace in the aftermath of the #EndSARS riot and other security challenges confronting the hitherto peaceful residency of the state.

As this is going on, the hierarchy of the traditional institution has advised  indigenes, visitors and the general public to go about their daily business  without fear.


“We do not have other state but Cross River, so we must work together to enthrone and sustain an enduring peace”.

The leadership also solicited for the co-operation of all and sundry in the decision to adopt the approach.


For quite sometime now, the State has been embroiled in incessant incidences of kidnapping, abduction, armed robbery and skirmishes associated with Inter cultism riots as well as looting and brigandage thereby stalling social and economic activities. 


These ugly incidences have greatly affected the peaceful nature of Cross Riverians and unless something drastical is done, it might get worse.


“Cross River is a peace loving state which had earned it the “best social state” in the country.
