2022 National Budget: Sen. Gershom Bassey Sues For Total Implementation By President Buhari

As President Muhammadu Buhari presents the 2022 National budget to the National Assembly, the Senator representing Southern Senatorial District of Cross River state, Senator Gershom Bassey said the problem is not the aspiration and ambition but implementation.

President Buhari had presented a total budget of 16.39 trillion Naira for 2023 fiscal year.

Speaking to newsmen, Senator Bassey lauded Mr. President for the 2023 budget.

He said “the President has laid a very concise plans on various areas. The problem has never been the aspirations and ambition but the implementation”.

“This time around, I hope all the lofty goals the President has laid down will be implemented to the latter and in the way he had laid it out”.

According to the Distinguished Senator “For instance, he talked about diversifying sources of funding and taking away alot of things off the budget and going into public private partnership (PPPs) that is a very lofty goal. He talked about infrastructure development and other critical infrastructural projects that he believes will help turn around the economy after completion before he leaves office in 2023”.

“The content of the budget have lofty goals and I hope he will fix them before leaving office as he has said, he emphasised”.

He declared, “The issue is implementation and I hope they will be executed the way he has marshaled them out”.

  Earlier, the Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan, had assured Mr. President that the 2022 national budget will be passed into law before the end of the year.
