For efficiency, accountability and proper representation of the Cross River Internal Revenue Service (CRIRS), the State Chairman, Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, Cross River State Chapter, Mr. Benedict Okache has called for more sensitisation of Tax payers and the harmonisation of tax collection across the 18 Local Government Areas of the State, irrespective of whatever name it bears.
He made thr call while speaking during a courtesy call on the Chairman and Management Staff of Cross River Internal Revenue Service (CRIRS,) in Calabar.
Comrade Okache commended the CRIRS for being Public Relations compliant and for their numerous efforts towards tax payers education and sensitisation as well as their presence in the media space and public domain in keeping Cross Riverians abreast of their activities and related matters. He called for training and retraining of tax education officers for efficient service delivery to win the confidence of the people.
He inferred that NIPR is a body established by the Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to regulate the practice of Public Relations in whatever name it is practiced, reiterating that one of the focus of his administration is to ensure professionalism in PR practice by advocating for professionalism in all sectors of the economy.
Okache listed the programmes of the Chapter for the year 2022 and solicited for the support of the agency towards a successful execution.
Responding, the Chairman CRIRS, Mr. Akpanke Ogar commended the CRS-NIPR for her visibility and high standards in maintaining professionalism, adding that with lots of quackery around, professionalism is of essence.
He informed that the agency is poised to do vigorous media campaigns for tax payers sensitisation and enlightenment, adding that they will collaborate with the Institute on all fronts to ensure that tax payers are efficiently sensitised according to acceptable Public Relations strategies.
