The Cross River State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, has commended the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force for the improved state of security in the country and urge them not to relent.
The commendation was made when the Cross River State Chapter Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Mr. Benedict Onah Okache, led Exco and members to pay a courtesy call on the Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP Aminu Alhassan, at the Command’s Headquarters office in Calabar.
Comrade Okache said that the swift response of the Force especially in the handling of the crisis of Alessi-Ochon Communities of Obubra and Ikom LGAs of the State, can not go unnoticed as peace, law and order has gradually returned to the warring communities.
Advocating for welfare upgrade for Police Officers, the Chairman while acknowledging the efforts of both the Federal and Cross River State governments in providing equipment and funding for the Force, further called on them and well-meaning citizens to keep supporting them in all ramifications in order to enable them render their duties more effectively.
The Chairman informed the CP of his administration’s two-point agenda of the institutionalization of the PR profession and greater visibility, the Institute’s Secretariat project and the fight against quackery in the PR profession.
The Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP Aminu Alhassan, thanked the Institute for recognizing the efforts of the Force and the welfare advocacy, saying it is a push to remain dauntless in serving the society.
CP Alhassan used the moment to call on Communities to always choose dialogue over violence when ironing out their differences as violence, never solves issues but always leads to the loss of lives and properties.
Looking forward to sustaining the already established relationship between the Force and Institute, CP Alhassan promised to key into the Secretariat Project and join in the fight against quacks in the PR profession.#
