The State Chairman of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Cross River State Chapter, Comrade Benedict Okache, has pledged his commitment to cooperate with the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Information Chapter to restore the dignity and profile of the Ministry of Information and Orientation.
Okache stated this when he received in audience, the Executives and Members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Information Chapel on a courtesy visit in his office in Calabar.
Expressing delight to the Union for the visit to congratulate him and two other members of the Chapel that won elections into the State Executive Council of Cross River NIPR, he reaffirmed his commitment to make sure that he represents the Information sector of the state well in all aspects.
According to him, “my new position is an added impetus and I will utilize it judiciously to get things right”.
He also stated, “you have taken the right step in the right direction, keep the flag flying for this synergy Will be sustained and strengthened”.
The State Chairman further implored Information Officers who are still sitting on the fence to make their minds to join any of the professional bodies in the Information sector, adding that getting chartered with the NIPR is not very expensive as been portrayed, compared to the value addition derivable from the Institute.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Information Chapel, Comrade Iloke Egbe Iloke, said the visit was deliberately put together to congratulate the NIPR State Chairman and to also synergize with the Institute to ensure the actualization of the Union’s mandate in the area of professionalism and excellence.
Comrade Iloke added that he is proud to be associated with the State NIPR Chairman, who is equally a member of the NUJ Information Chapel and prayed that God will sustain him to fulfill his goodwill to the Ministry and the State at large.
The State General Secretary of Cross River NIPR, Dr Austin Nboso assured that the NIPR CRS Chapter will work tirelessly to achieve it’s set goals.
