Supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River state, have staged a peaceful protest at PDP Secretarit demanding the immediate withdrawal of the candidacy of Mrs. Emana Ambrose as the party’s deputy governorship choice for 2023 general election.
Majority of the protesters who were from Akpabuyo, Bakassi and Calabar South Federal Constituency threatened to dump the party if the issue is not urgently addressed.

The protesters were led by the Chairman of ward 9 Calabar South local government area, Mr.Edem Oyom.

They queried the party’s wisdom in choosing a green horn in politics for the strategic post of deputy governor ahead of more experienced politicians without minding the fact that the opposition party is controlling government apparatus in the state.

They vowed to employ all available means at their disposal to achieve their wish if their request is not granted.

Receiving the protesters, the State PDP Secretary Comrade Tony Edago,  commended them for the peaceful manner which they conducted themselves and assured that since the party is noted for having a listening ear such a sensitive issue would certainly be looked into.

Comrade Edago reminded them of the free and fair manner the party conducted it’s primaries across the state and noting “out that it will not be the issue of selecting a deputy governor that would be allowed to become a problem that cannot be amicably resolved.

He appealed to them to sheat their sword and allow the party to handle the matter.
