Greater Calabar DG Felicitates Muslims on Sallah Celebrations …task youth on voter’s registration

The Director General of the Greater Calabar City Development Authority, Comrade, Kingsley lta lkpeme (FCAI) has sent a message of felicitation to the Muslims on the occasion of the Sallah Celebrations.

In a message, he opined that the event should be a moment of sober reflection on the ideals of the Holy Prophet Muhammed, adding that the event should be not only feature festivity but also create moments of sober reflections,” taking cognizance of rare virtues of true believer which is patience, tolerance, patriotism to Nigeria and the need to muster courage to defend our sovereignty and democracy”.

Ikpeme, who was speaking during his visit to Nasarawa Estate (Bakoko)a muslim dominated settlement in Calabar Municipality to celebrate the 2022 Sallah and also the presentation of trophy to the winners of Diamond stars football tournament, used the event to charge the youth to take advantage of the ongoing voters registration by lNEC and register to enable them exercise their civic responsibility.

He said “notwithstanding our cultural and language differences, football has the ability to bring communities together by connecting people with the sports that brings them Joy”,

He further urged the youth to breakdown the barriers that divides them from one another while striving for peace and through the sustainability of law and order, even without persuasion, stressing that there can’t be any meaningful development in such society.

While presenting the trophy to the winner, lkpeme, congratulated the Basin Jnr super 4 of Nasarawa Estate(Bakoko)for emerging the winner of the 2022 football competition, he advised them that as the potential international heroes in sports, they should look out for sportsmen who are positive role models for the team from the wider community.


Speaking the team captain lsa Makka appreciated the DG for finding time to honour their invitation despite his schedule, the pledge their commitments in participating in the voters registration and exercise of their franchise.
In his submission, the youth leader of Nasarawa Estate(Bakoko) Alhaji Nasiru Gombe commended the DG for celebrating the Sallah with them and applauded him for the voters sensitisation offered to the youth.

Nasiru assured the DG that machinery have been set up to ensure all citizens of voting age participate in the voters registration in the area
