The APC House of Assemble candidate for Yakurr-1 State Constituency, Mr. Cyril Omini (CY) recently won the ‘Emerging Political Leader of the Year 2022’ award and the debate has since bothered on whether or not he merits the award.
¶ In 2011, CY got into the Cross River State political geography where he worked assiduously for the re-election of the governor, H.E. Sen. Liyel Imoke.
¶ In 2015, he was instrumental to the success of H.E. Sen. Benedict Ayade’s election and in 2019, much of the credit from Gov. Ayade’s re-election result in Yakurr LGA goes to CY.
¶ Since then, CY, has served so many political leaders and has equally played a tangible role in the elections of many of the State’s political elites — John Gaul, Alex Egbonna, Ikpi Akpama, Ofem Obeten, Nelson Ofem, just to mention but a few.
¶ It goes without any gain saying that from 2019 till date, CY has influenced the appointment of not less than 20 political appointees at the state level, courtesy of his healthy relationship with Gov. Ayade.
All of this, couple with the fact that he is currently the youngest of all 25 APC HoA candidates puts him on the merit list of the award — no doubt, CY is an emerging political leader in Cross River State!
