The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Cross River State chapter, has declared support to the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Prof. Sandy Onor for the March 11, governorship election.
The body in a press conference made her position known to its and the media through their State Chairman, Rev. Dr. Lawrence Ekwok.
In the statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary, Rev. Ekwok and Apostle Frank Umo, respectively said, “the entire leadership and membership of the PFN, Cross River State formally and officially endorsed the candidature of the governorship candidate of the PDP, Sen. Sandy Ojang Onor for the March 11,2023 governorship election “.
“We therefore, hereby call on all members of the PFN in all our members churches across the state to vote massively for the PDP governorship candidate in the March 11 governorship election as the endorsement is the collective and unanimous decision of the leadership and membership of PFN, Cross River State, the statement noted “.
The body had constituted a strategy committee to decide on who to cast their votes out of the three credible candidates from three political parties. The PDP, APC and PRP.
“A total of 429 leaders at local government areas, voted as follows, PDP candidate scored 260 votes, APC candidate had 114 votes, while the PRP candidate got 8 votes.”
Earlier, the statement noted, an enlarged meeting of the state Advisory Council, state Executive Committee and all local government coordinators was held February 19, 2023, in which the entire 51 members in attendance resolved that the reports and recommendations of the Strategy Committee and those from the three Senatorial districts be adopted”.
