A group known as Forum of Past and Present Student Union Leaders has adopted Senator Prince Bassey Otu, the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) candidate for the governorship election, come March 18, 2023.
The decision was disclosed in a World press conference by leaders of the group drawn from the three Senatorial districts in the state at the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Centre.

Presenting the views on behalf of the Convener Prof. Fransisca Bassey, the Field Marshall of the group, Comrade Fidelis Inaku, Sen. Bassey Otu is a humble and easy going personality, capable of taking the state to the next level if elected governor.
He said “beyond sentiments; the essence of purposeful leadership, guaranteeing dividends of democracy and theassurance of the desired future for youths, students and all demographicsin Cross River State rests on his shoulder”.
According to him, “we have come to declare our total support for Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu for governor of Cross River State”.
The group “PAST AND PRESENT STUDENTS LEADERS” is made up of past and serving Students Leaders who have contributed immensely to the Comrade community and have dedicated their youth to the advancement of the Students struggle over the years”
Also, as distinguished leaderswho have been dedicated, persistent and consistent in shaping the courseof history through mounting pressure on public office holders, providing purposeful leadership to a large crop of students, youths and even men and women in their prime.
Therefore, having, proven our commitment to national and state development , call on our teeming youths across the state to come out and cast their votes to Prince Bassey Otu for governor come March 18, gubernatorial and State Assembly elections.
Earlier, the Convener of the body, Prof. Fransisca Bassey, said as a house hold name in Cross River State deserves to be appreciated by voting enmasse for him during the election.

“As a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he Otu was a proud representative of his constituency with projects across the entire senatorial district and the state at large.”
According to her, “we can not but root for a man with good heart to change the narrative of the state. This is the time to say thank you for all you did as a Senator. There many bills passed into Law sponsored by him”.
She described Otu “as accessible and a lot of humility”.
