Practicing journalists in Cross River State had the first time opportunity to interact with the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor of Cross River, Mr Emmanuel Ogbeche.
Until his appointment as the CPS, Ogbeche was the immediate past State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Abuja state council.
Addressing journalists at the Ernest Etim Bassey Press centre, 3rd Avenue, State Housing, Calabar, he said Governor Bassey Otu inherited a dilapidated state and needs the cooperation of all sectors to synergize together to work out from the woods.
“The state was badly frazzled that it calls for the support and collaboration of all to get things alright”.
However, he continued, the Otu-led administration is ever ready to turn the fortunes of the state around with all hands on deck.
“Otu inherited a rundown state. It was badly rundown to the extent to show that there was no government in place before now”.
“There is no record of anything; approvals were given on WhatsApp messages. It will require a lot to turn the state around and thank God we have a capable and listening governor who is ready to provide the needed leadership.”
Given this ugly scenario, he solicited for the support of journalists in the state by presenting the state in the light to enable him to turn around the fortune of the state for the benefit of all.
Ogbeche however assured of the governor’s support to the welfare of practicing journalists as well as to attend to the needs of the Union at all times.
“As a member of the union i will ensure a robust relationship between the governor and the media practitioners in the State, he stated”.
Earlier, the Chairman of Cross River Council of the NUJ, Mr. Nsa Gill, had congratulated Ogbeche on his appointment and promised that the union and its members would work harmoniously to support him to justify his appointment as CPS to Governor You.
