Hon.Eyo Promises To Support Bakassi Fish Festival

Member representing Bakassi local government area in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon Eyo Bassey Edet, has assured the organisers of the Bakassi Fish Festival of his support to  enable them achieve their aims and objectives.

He was speaking while receiving the organizing team in his official  chamber in the House of Assembly.

The parliamentarian commended them for their foresight and pledged his support to ensure the forthcoming second edition of the festival records a laudable success.

Hon Eyo noted that though the initiative is a welcome idea as it is focused on driving positive narratives , he advised that  challenges identified during the maiden edition of the festival be addressed to ensure improvement.

He remarked  that with Bakassi being an international border town as well as a gateway to Central Africa, the festival has the potential of boosting international attractions to stimulate tourism and commerce within the West African hub and thereforeencouraged them to keep the vision aflame.

Earlier, the leader of the Bakassi Fish Festival organizing  team, Frank Edima, said the team was on a courtesy cum sensitisation visit to  commend Hon Eyo for his election into the Cross River State House of Assembly as well as appreciate him for his  support during the maiden edition of the festival in 2022, adding that they were also in his office to inform him of the second edition of the festival  and as well as solicit his support.

Edima disclosed that the two days festival which will commence on September 26, has  more attractions compared to the  maiden edition  to give it an international outlook with the view of attracting  more participations and attendance.

The Secretary General of the Bakassi Fish Festival organizing team, Comrade Akwa Etim, pointed out that activities earmarked for the festival include lecture/sensitization, cultural exhibition/fair, fish trade fair.

According to him, the competition aspect of the festival covers wrestling,boat racing, cooking and fish painting.
