The State Commissioner for Information, Mr Erasmus Ekpang has reaffirmed that the vision of the state government to actualize the ‘clean and green’ status of Calabar as soon as possible.
The commissioner who gave the assurance while addressing traders at the Ika Ika Qua Market in Calabar to mark this year’s World Clean up Day organized by the Nigerian Conservation Foundation and the Global Eco Mentors said that in no distance time the lost glory of being the cleanest state in nigeria would return in a resounding way.
Represented by the Director, Orientation, Mr David Akate, he revealed that the state government has put in place a robust arrangement to achieve the lofty dreams.
Ekpang said that attaining the desired level of sanitation is already premised on the cleanliness culture of the people of the state adding that it would therefore, be a smooth sail for the implementation of environmental programs of the state.
He urged the traders to support the aspirations of government both in public space and in private by invoking the cultural spirit of hygiene.
The commissioner said that though a massively reorientation would be carried out by the Ministry soon on sanitation and general hygiene.
He said that it would be aimed as a reminder to the already established culture of the people of the state.
Earlier, the coordinator of the program Isaac Etta said that the event was to mark world Cleanup Day and that the clubs were taking advantage of the day to sensitize the public on environmental sanitation and behavioral change.
