The Obong of Calabar, His Eminence Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu (V) has lauded the Nigerian Institute Of Building(NIOB) for the proposal for urban and regional planning reforms to streamline building regulation in the state.
His Eminence stated this in his Palace in Calabar when the National President of NIOB, Builder Sir Alderton Ewa led a delegation of the professional body on a courtesy visit.

The Obong expressed joy over a boost of professionals in the building sector of the state and commended the NIOB National President for his emergence as the new National President of the professional body.
Earlier, the National President of the Nigeria Institute of Building, Sir Alderton Ewa said his visit was to create awareness on the role of the professional body in fostering development.
He expressed desire of the NIOB to introduce reforms in Urban and Regional planning in the state to ensure uniformity with other states of the Federation and extended invitation for his forthcoming investiture to the Obong.

“The present Urban and Regional Planning law in the state came into force since 1984 and requires updating, it would be recalled”.
“Only 18 states are currently operating the revised version of the law. My effort will be to ensure the domestication of the new urban and regional planning law in the state to enhance real estate valuation and development of the state, he noted”.
