Consistent with the governor Bassey Otu-led administration’s stance on public private partnership (PPP), especially in health-related areas, the Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund (NSSF) has sought collaboration with the State Ministry of Health to better improve “outreaches on childhood immunization” in the State.
Speaking during a presentation to health sector stakeholders in the office of the Commissioner, recently, the Team Lead, Dr. Fejiro Chinye-Nwoko stated that NSSF will be committing to funding of the project in Cross River State and two other states of the federation.
She further noted that, his NGO’s associate partner, IHS Towers, one of the largest telecommunications infrastructure providers in Africa, will also be part of the project.
In his response, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Henry Egbe Ayuk, thanked the organisation for its choice of Cross River as one of the three states to to support child immunisation, noting that, when operational, such a project would impact on the health and wellbeing of children in the State.
Dr Ayuk noted that the disposition of a local organisation such as NSSF to collaborate with IHS Towers to support the State has added impetus to the global attention towards local NGOs by Donors, especially for their huge grassroot roles.
The Health Commissioner conveyed the assurances of the Otu-led administration to NSSF and its readiness to partner relevant Organisations to engender development for the people of Cross River State.
The meeting drew stakeholders from the State Ministry of Health, State Primary Healthcare Development Agency and other relevant MDAs of government.
