The persuasive argument of government for the adoption and implementation of the digital Contributory Pension Scheme is genuine and will benefit all strata of civil servants in the state.
The Commissioner for Establishments Training and Pensions, Hon Mrs Lawrencia Ita stated this while reacting to the recently passed bill on the implementation of the new Contributory Pension Scheme by the Cross River State House of Assembly.
She maintained that the executive bill was with all intent crafted to favour civil and public workers in the state and had no iota of ambiguity.
According to her, “the torchlight of hope for a better future under the era of ‘sweetness’ would continue to burn and brighten the directional path to greatness adding that the enthusiasm of achieving a heroic success in this tenure would never be dampened”.
Ita advised that the bill should be appreciated more from the futuristic value rather than the myopic view perceived by some schools of thought.
She pointed out that as an executive manager of civil and public servants pension in the state and by virtue of her position as Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, she is acquainted with the laborious and cumbersome status of the analog system and that the digital arrangement being ushered in would be a great relief to both the Government and the pensioners.
The Commissioner outlined some of the benefits of the digital Contributory Pension scheme to include certainty, security and an unhindered access to the operations of their Pensions.
She advised the stakeholders of the scheme to be rest assured of astute commitment of government to a seamless operation of the digital pension regime.
