The Deputy governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey has provided logistic support to Mr. Benedict Ori who is set to create a new world record in reading.
Ori who is from Ojirim, Mbube, Ogoja, is a 2nd year English & Literary Studies student of the University of Calabar.
Ori who disclosed that his goal is to create a new record of 150 hours nonstop reading said (GWR) had already approved his readathon and had sent him stipulations and protocols to observe in order to achieve success in the attempt.
According to him, “I am physically, emotionally and mentally prepared for the readathon and will be reading the Bible from Genesis to Revelation from 12th – 17th February, 2024.”
Ori said “I was thrilled by the courtesy and warmth of Rt. Hon. Peter Odey when the visitors were received in the Deputy Governor’s Office and prayed that Hon. Odey will continue to be a source of light and inspiration to students.
Odey has also promised to be physically present on the last day of the readathon.
The current holder of the title for longest reading aloud, Rysbai Isakov from Turkey, ended at 124 hours and has held the title since September 2022.
Ori was accompanied on the visit by the Exco of the National Association of Ogoja Students World Wide and his management team.
