_…pays condolence visits to deceased families in his hometown, Mbube, Ogoja
Cross River State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, Friday attended the Service of Songs/Night of Tribute for late Chief Francis Ingwubel Akpo, father-in-law of the immediate past Governor of Cross River State, Senator Ben Ayade.
The service of songs and night of tribute which held at St. Stephen’s Primary School Field, Obudu, had in attendance eminent Cross Riverians and Nigerians spanning various political affiliations and backgrounds.
In his condolence letter sent earlier to the family, he said; “Chief Akpo is a beacon of wisdom and virtue whose life illuminated countless paths. He was a stalwart educationist who dedicated decades of his life as a revered school principal to shaping young minds to excellence.
“Akpo whose influence extended far beyond the walls of academia, was a devoted and doting father who instilled in his children the values of integrity, diligence and compassion and one who found solace in dispensing counsel to the younger generation, offering pearls of insight gleaned from a life richly lived.
“Though the late Chief Francis Akpo may have departed this earthly realm, his spirit lives on in the hearts and minds of all who had the privilege of knowing him”
The letter concludes, “May his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration, and a reminder of the profound impact one life can make”
Late Chief Francis Akpo died at the age of 83 years and his body was laid to rest on Saturday, April 27th, 2024 after a Requiem Mass at St Charles Boromeo Parish, Obudu.
Similarly, on Saturday, the 27th of April, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Odey, in his hometown of Mbube, Ogoja Local Government Area, paid condolence visits on the families of MWO Alphonsus Ejue Modey Nyiam (rtd) who passed away at 63 years old, Mrs. Josephine Onwaku Obegu who died at the age 78 years old and Mrs. Regina Nyege Bullem at the age of 93.
Following his condolence visits to the families of the deceased, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey expressed profound shock and conveyed that their loss was irreparable. He acknowledged the mystery of life’s cycles, recognizing that it’s ultimately in God’s hands.
He encouraged the family members and those affected by the passing of Alphonsus Ejue Nyiam, Josephine Obegu, and Regina Bullem to find strength and solace during this difficult time.
