The Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Cross River State Hon. Patrick Egbede has commended the management of Larfarge Africa PLC , producers of UNICEM cement for it’s massive contribution to the economy of the state and nation at large.
The Commissioner who was at the headquarters of the Company in Calabar on a courtesy visit recently praised the industrial climate boost which has manifested in the state on account of it’s proactive posture and investment zeal.

Egbede emphasized that the multiplier effect of the operations of the company on the socio-economic impact of the state economy was appreciable and expressed optimism that it would be sustained.
He noted that sustaining a company both in capacity and growth was a rare phenomenon especially at this time of economic hardship and advised indigenous business outfits to emulate.
Egbede maintained that his knowledge of the expansive and deliberate policies on the cooperate social responsibility of the company has further placed him on a pedestal of trust and confidence in company.
He however, urged the company to sustain the tempo and expand its scope to accommodate a larger spectrum of the society.
He informed that a data base for the unemployed was being collated across the state assuring that should references be made to the state government for any category of candidate it would not hesitate to oblige.
The Commissioner requested for more Cross Riverivarians to be considered distributors ,contractors and vendors and also appealed for the company to make Cross River State a department al headquarters of Larfarge.
Responding, the Head of Communication and Public Affairs, Dr. Inyang Bassey who received the Commissioner on behalf of the MD of the company said that the visit was pivotal to strengthening the cordial relationship with the state government.
He pointed out that the existing symbiotic relationship with the state government has created the needed conducive atmosphere for the company to operate effectively.

Dr Inyang assured that the company was ready at all times to partner with the state government in all areas of congruity.
According to him, the company has been faithful with it’s corporate social responsibility to guarantee harmonious relationship.
He however, advised Cross Riverivarians to always brace up to the challenges of competing favourably with their counterparts from other parts of the country for jobs whenever such positions were advertised by the company.
