Major streets of Calabar, Cross River state on August 8, 2024, turned into a mini carnival as members of the Brotherhood of Cross and Star (BCS) marched round to mark the 66th celebration of Eton Day.
The streets were painted in immaculate white as followers of Leader Olumba Olumba Obu, danced in celebration in appreciation to what God had done to humanity via the Spiritual Leader and Head of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS).
Addressing newsmen on the significance of the celebration, Patriarch Christ Shepherd Amah Williams (BCS) Spokesman, said it is by the divine directive of the Leader of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, the King of kings and Lord of lords that I issue this Press statement. Hence, I stand on His authority to welcome you all and extend to you His divine goodwill of love, hope and blessings as we mark the 66th Anniversary of the March of the Redeemed, also known as 8 Eton Day.”
According to him, “this celebration reflects the significant spiritual and physical impact of BCS on Nigeria and the world. The event, which began on 8th August 1958, symbolizes the establishment of God’s Kingdom on earth as prophesied in Revelation”.
“The March of the Redeemed, from Eton Street to Mbukpa Road in Calabar, signaled the revelation of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star as God’s New Kingdom on earth as recorded in Revelation 11:15, 21:1-5, with members clad in white soutane, representing purity and righteousness. This march also marked the beginning of the black race’s spiritual emancipation”.
He called on our leaders to embrace the teachings of Leader Olumba Olumba Obu as the only possible solution to our economic recovery.
Leaders from other countries have already accepted His manifestation and teaching and are getting it right, but unfortunately this great nation had given this call a deaf ear.
“His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu has called on all religions, peoples, governments and nations of the world to jettison every policy or action that brings segregation, violence and division amongst the human family for Eton Day signals the institution of a new world order where unity, peace and love only reigns supreme”.
He said, “the presence of BCS in Nigeria has greatly contributed to the country’s unity and progress, with His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu having intervened spiritually in critical moments of the nation’s history, including the end of the Nigerian Civil War.
He recalled that “in 1969, during the Nigerian Civil War, many prominent Nigerians, including high-ranking military officers who had grown weary of the conflict, sought the spiritual intervention of Leader Olumba Olumba Obu. The Holy Father graciously agreed to intervene, and following His divine pronouncement, the war ended in January 1970, saving the nation from complete collapse. That same year, Leader Olumba Olumba Obu further declared that as long as Brotherhood of the Cross and Star remains headquartered in Nigeria, the country would remain united, and any attempts to divide it would fail. This prophecy has held true, as numerous efforts to split the nation have been unsuccessful”.
“Since 1958, Brotherhood of the Cross and Star has organized numerous peace advocacy programs annually across various states in Nigeria and beyond. In 2014, when it became evident that the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria was at risk of crisis due to rising insecurity, the Leader of the Brotherhood, His Holiness ” Olumba Obu, made divine pronouncements and directed His followers to march around the city. Whether one believes it or not, His divine intervention is credited with spiritually thwarting the plans of those who sought to destabilise the Federal Capital Territory. His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu has carried out similar actions in the South East, South West, and other parts of the nation, bringing peace to these regions through His advocacy efforts”.
“BCS promotes peace across religious and ethnic divides, offering social services, education, and charity globally. The Everlasting Gospel of His Holiness has transformed lives, bringing healing, hope, and righteousness. The economic impact of BCS is also notable, particularly in Cross River State and Nigeria at large, where its activities contribute to local economies, he added”.
He said the spiritual, economic and social impact of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star for the last 66 years are inexhaustible as he called on all lovers of truth to come to Brotherhood of the Cross and Star and be transformed.
The Spiritual Head of BCS called on leaders to recognise that true power lies not in domination or control, but in the ability to listen, to understand, and to act in the best interests of all. The grievances of the people cannot be ignored, nor can the divine mandate to lead with justice, compassion, and integrity. The time has come for leaders to embrace a new paradigm-one that prioritizes dialogue over discord, empathy over ego, and the common good over personal or institutional gain.
“His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu has declared that God is watching, and will judge everyone by their actions. The path forward must be one of reconciliation, humility, and a renewed commitment to the values that bind us together as a global community. Only then can we hope to heal the wounds of division and build a future that reflects the true essence of our shared humanity, he warned”.
