Brotherhood Old Boys’ Association (BOBA) has cautioned four persons recently excommunicated from the religious fold to desist from inciting members of the public through their utterances and malicious publications.
The body of security experts described their actions as very unhealthy, capable of disrupting public peace.
Chairman of the Association, Dr Daniel Udoette spoke to some journalists in Calabar at the weekend.
He said such utterances if not stopped, could lead to break down of law and order in states of Nigeria and other countries of the World where there are teeming membership of the organization.
Udoette, therefore, advised the former members to desist from fanning embers of hatred and creating unnecessary tension.
According to the security expert, “the Spiritual Organisation is globally recognized as a peaceful Christian group that aims to unite humanity”.
He said they will work with other government security agencies in the country and worldwide to thwart attempts at causing public disorder.
“The Nigerian constitution permits freedom of worship and association but stoutly frowns at any form of public incitement by any religious person(s) or groups”.
“The Brotherhood Old Boys Association (BOBA) wants to caution those persons who were excommunicated from Brotherhood of the Cross and Star recently to stop their ongoing public incitement against the organization and its leadership”.
“Having been banished over doctrinal violations, defamatory publications and disloyalty to hierarchy, they are free to go away quietly and form their own different worship centres since Nigeria’s laws permit freedom of worship. They should stop parading themselves as BCS members”.
“Brotherhood of the Cross and being a peaceful religious organisation will operate within the extant laws of Nigerian and cooperate with the law enforcement agencies to ensure public peace, order and freedom of association and worship. We stronly advise the excommunicated persons to refrain from their plans to mobilize actions against BCS worship centres worldwide because such can disrupt public peace, he said”.
Earlier, the spokesperson of the four excommunicated members, Kinsley Asu had insisted that they remain members of the Organization and have not violated any rules
